Recently, our tamariki were lucky enough to visit Wellington’s newest fire station, and it was an experience full of excitement, learning, and wonder.
Children are naturally curious, especially with sirens often heard near our centre.
This visit gave them the chance to learn where firefighters go, what they do, and how they help our community through their important mahi. We feel incredibly lucky to build and maintain strong connections with our local community.
During our visit, we heard a real siren and explored the station, where the firefighters had their uniforms ready and set out, showing just how prepared they always need to be. One of the biggest highlights was sitting inside the fire truck and seeing all the equipment up close. We were also amazed by a very cool fire boat, which we were lucky enough to sit in too.
Dean, a firefighter with 25 years’ experience, showed us how a fire truck sprays water and explained how fast they can drive in emergencies. It was fascinating and left everyone inspired and full of questions.
A huge thank you to Dean and the Wellington firefighters for such a memorable visit we can't wait to visit again!
