A visit from Hearty for a special award

Today was a celebration of receiving the Heart Foundation's Gold Healthy Heart Award. Mariana from the Heart Foundation presented us with the award and the children had a special visitor Hearty, the Heart Foundation's Healthy Heart mascot. There was lots of discussion about what healthy food we love (Hearty loves strawberries!) and there were many activities happening such as the babies climbing outdoors, preschool ripper rugby match and plenty of foundation skills activities. At First Steps Palmerston North we provide healthy wholesome morning teas, lunches and afternoon teas. These are carefully prepared by our wonderful cooks Rhonda and Angela with help from our reliever cook Leonesa. These ladies work hard to ensure these are delivered to your child's room every day. The teachers also ensure that the children receive many opportunities to take part in healthy exercise and learning about having a healthy heart on a regular basis. The staff are commended and thanked on their contribution to achieving this award.
