Recently the children have been really interested in animals. So last week the teachers decided to get Ally from the SPCA into preschool to talk to the children about animals and what they do in the community to help care for them.

The children were involved in a special mat time where Ally brought in a range of resources to teach the children lots of different things. First, the children learnt about the different animals that the SPCA have in their care. They have dogs, cats, rabbits, pigs and more. We then talked about how animals are similar to us and that for them to be happy they need food, shelter and most importantly love. After Ally went through and talked about how sometimes animals need to go to the doctor when they aren't feeling well and the SPCA is a place they can go to. Later after we had been through a few different posters and talked about what the SPCA do the children learnt two new songs and we got to meet Popcorn the fluffy, white and friendly bunny.

The children had lots of fun learnt about different animals and meeting and patting popcorn. In the end, we handed over the special collection of dog toys that families had been collecting for the dogs in the care of the SPCA. They were so thankful and it was much appreciated.
