A world of sound and movement

The Tahi Room at BestStart Napier Central had their own Wiggles concert!

As we are all born into a world of sound and movement, it has been a privilege to support and work alongside the tamariki, extending upon their interest and passion for singing and dancing.

The tamariki in the Tahi room have been having so much fun learning new songs and nursery rhymes while also gaining confidence and control of their bodies as they show a sense of joy and pride beaming through on their faces.

The tamariki have now, through their own desire, extended and further developed their role modelling and taking on leadership role skills. They do this by sharing their awesome dance moves, creative ideas, personal discoveries and decision making (following their hearts desire), with each other. It is very evident and inspiring to see how they have strengthened the control they have over their bodies and the new language and words they have discovered and absorbed.

The Wiggles has been a favourite recently and they love dancing and singing to 'Rock-a-bye your bear'. The children have even created their own scene for this song and now pretend they are asleep at the end like bear. They have also introduced new resources into the song (babies and teddy bears.)

Through this Wiggles interest and passion, not only have the tamariki been developing different ways to be creative and expressive they have also been strengthening their intellectual, imaginative, emotional, social and cultural growth and extending upon their social skills. This further develops friendships, coordination, rhythm, concentration, listening skills, memory, feeling comfortable and safe in their environment to participate in group activities and of course having fun!!! These things all promote a stronger sense of well being and belonging for each child.
