The tamariki have explored hair rollers, coasters, wooden pegs, natural resources, fresh sawdust with bark scoops, water, messy play and much, much more!

Open ended play is ‘multi-dimensional’, where the children can explore items with more than one purpose, in any way they choose.  At TopKids Welcome Bay we love open ended play because it caters to a range of developmental levels and our children are sustaining an interest and engaged in their play for a great length of time.

Through open ended play, children have the opportunities to share and contribute to each other’s play building upon their prior knowledge, communicate with and between each other and learn at their own pace and developmental levels. Children are exploring through their sense of texture, touch, taste, sight and smell. They are also involved in different urges within play (schemas) such as transportation, enveloping, collecting, construction and de-construction.
