Becoming life long learners at BestStart Greenwood

Here we have our older Kotiro ( girls) supporting our younger Tamaiti by helping them with their kai. Through a Maori lense we look at what the child already knows and what they bring to our early childhood setting. Learning and teaching within a Māori context are based on whanaungatanga and tikanga Māori. The Māori word “ako” means both learning and teaching. It identifies every teacher as a learner and every learner as a teacher. All these stem from our philosophy.
