As a part of BestStart Balclutha’s holiday programme, on July 17th, we had a Special Persons Mōrena Kai. Our tamariki invited some of the special people and soft toys in their lives to come along for mōrena kai.

We had mums, dads, grandparents, great grandparents and teddys visit us. Ngā tamariki were very excited as we got ready for our guests.

This was a very relaxed time with tamariki introducing some special important people they love. It was lovely for kaiako to meet those we haven’t met before and spend time chatting with our guests. It also meant our tamariki could share their centre with those who sometimes are not able to visit.

Mōrena kai consisted of cheese rolls, scones with jam and cream and delicious fruit.

Events like this are a part of our centre philosophy, we value a sense of whanaungatanga and the importance of whanau.
