Build them up, knock them down!
With not one cloud in the sky, today was the perfect day to bring out all the boxes we have been saving from having our groceries delivered weekly. Even the simplest set of blocks contains the seeds of imagination, creation, and destruction. Our tamariki at BestStart Totara Street enjoy stacking a tower of blocks as high as possible and then watching what happens when they knock them down. This is one way our children develop fine motor skills and explore concepts like early math, geometry, problem-solving, and cause and effect. We have had a train, a bus and an aeroplane constructed all whist re using a common object found in many homes.
