The children have found brown, green  and yellow praying mantis's in the gardens! They are absolutely fascinated by them and researched about them on our iPads. They have learnt how to know the difference between a female and male and that its not a good idea to put them together....as the male does not survive!!! Once the children have finished with their praying mantis's they release them back into the garden to live a long and happy life.

Sensory play and baking has also been popular! These activities are always a hit with our children. Some of children have also spent time deconstructing broken appliances, this was an interesting activity for the teachers to observe the children's fine motor skills and hand/eye co ordination.

The children are showing an interest in construction over the past week so the teachers are planning on extending this interest with specific learning goals in mind for the children. Pre-literacy activities and pre-numeracy activities are also always popular which is added advantage to our Be School Ready Initiative!
