Today we celebrated Chinese New Year - the year of the ox. The tamariki had an awesome day creating their own ‘fu’ artwork (which upside down means good fortune is coming) and learning a special Chinese New Year song. We were also very lucky to have one of our parents come in and teach the children how to make dumplings. They all got to have a turn putting a spoonful of filling into the pastry, wetting the edge with their fingers, folding them together and then pinching round the edges to keep the filling enclosed.

The dumplings were so yummy and, as you can see from the photos, the tamariki thought so too!
