As part of Diwali celebration, family and community engagement, we had Avis’s son Avishal and his friends Nimisha and Avishek coming over to play Indian musical instruments. They sang songs (kirtan) while playing the instruments.

Avishal played Dholak, Nimish played cymbal while Avishek sang and played Harmonium. These instruments are played during the celebrations and worship times.

Celebrating Diwali the Indian festival of light is a fun way to bring Indian music and culture into early childhood and strengthen the links with the community. Children also seem to enjoy listening to the music and some of them were clapping while they are learning about other culture.
