What an awesome week we had celebrating the Hindu festival of Diwali.
Diwali is the festival of lights and is associated with Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity.
During this week of celebrations, our tamariki got to learn so many things surrounding Diwali. They made and tasted different Indian sweets. They made roti. They danced. They made diya which are lamps and are lit to get rid of the darkness.
We also had some very special guests come and visit us from Clayton Park Primary School - their Indian dance troupe who showcased their special talents.
The week ended with us inviting our parents to a shared lunch in which we were able to show them all the wonderful things our tamariki had learnt and done in the past week. It was an awesome end to a fantastic week. We can't wait to celebrate again next year.
