Recently we celebrated Lao New Year, to embrace one of the many cultures that we are lucky enough to have within our centre. Some of the key traditions of Lao New Year are water and flowers. We enjoyed putting flowers and water in the trough and enjoyed the sensory experience that it offered. We tried out sculpting temples from play dough and enjoyed making delicious dumplings.

Art was also a prominent feature of the week where we made beautiful flowers and re-created the Lao flag.

The learning involved in the events included embracing cultural diversity and discovering many ways in which our tamariki can express themselves.

We are excited to learn more and celebrate another cultural festival soon!
