Nau mai, haere mai ki te Matariki.

Each year, Matariki signals the start of the Māori New Year. In 2019, the Matariki period is from 25 to 28 June. Matariki is a time to gather with family and friends to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and plan for the future.

Here at BestStart Stoddard tamariki (children) have been busy celebrating matariki in different ways – Making poi, rakau stick, decorating stars and maori designs, reading maori legend books, making and flying our kites and last but not the least:- meeting and spending time together with our parents /whanau for kai.
