Matariki is the Māori name for the cluster of stars also known as the Pleiades. It rises in mid-winter and for many Māori, it heralds the start of a new year. We had a beautiful hangi that was kindly put down for us by one of our staff's whanau and rewana bread and stuffing made by another whanau, a fire pit, weaving, storytelling and face painting. This was an amazing evening to celebrate with all our families.
