Celebrating Samoan Language Week at BestStart Mount Eden
We are so lucky to have so much diversity among our teaching team at BestStart Mt Eden. Last week our kaiako Josie took the lead in Samoan language week, teaching the tamariki (and kaiako) about the amazing culture in which she grew up in.
Everyone got involved in dressing up, singing and learning some new Samoan words - words that we are now going to include into our everyday language. So much colour, so much beauty!
At the moment, the planning focus in the infants and toddlers room is 'The Arts' so it was no wonder the children embraced moving their bodies to the beat of the drums; as well as getting creative making fans with paint, collage and feathers. For some tamariki, this would have been a first time experience- How fun it is to learn about other cultures!
