Celebrating Te wiki o te reo Māori - Māori language week

Māori language week - a week to actively learn more te reo Māori and embrace this beautiful culture, a little more.

As a team we have continued to work on developing our own Te Reo Māori in our environment and we thank our whānau for being extremely patient with us!

On Tuesday the 14th of September at 12pm, was Māori language moment - a time for everyone across New Zealand to use Te Reo Māori at the same time - whether it be through kōrero (conversation), waiata (singing) or just listening to Te Reo.

This marks the moment in 1972 when the Māori language petition was presented to parliament. It was important to us that our tamariki understood why this moment was so important.

Every day at 12pm we sing our karakia before kai - this was how we contributed to this moment.

What did you do to mark this moment?
