Celebrating Waitangi Day at First Steps Wattle Downs
We celebrated Waitangi Day on Tuesday the 5th of Feb. It was a small celebration but an awesome one at that.
Our tamariki practiced their action song for weeks so that they were ready for our visiting whanau and wow, did they do an awesome performance of Tutira mai nga iwi, and the pukana at the end was fantastic.
After our performance, we invited our parents to join us in eating the yummy hangi, prepared and cooked by our manager and admin - it was delicious.
It was as fantastic day for us to remember our commitment to incorporate te reo Maori and tikanga into our centre life.
