Tamariki in the Potiki room have a wonderful inclusive environment designed to ensure safe, free movement. We care currently focussing on communication. Our babies have been engaged and happy in showing their ability to communicate with their Kaiako through cues and gestures. Our infants have been interactively communicating with their peers using smiles, noises and signals of pleasure. Kaiako further extended infants pleasure while responding to their cues, facial expressions and words and have also encouraged interactions among the peers.

Kaiako believe expressive communication is the ability of infants and toddlers to express themselves through sounds, gestures, facial expressions and words. Nga kaiako support the younger tamariki to extending their communication skills while interacting, talking, reading and singing with them.
