Recently here at BestStart Wainoni we have noticed a vast majority of our Prep room tamariki have been showing an interest in Sensory play activities. As our weather in the South Island has been a little unpredictable, we have created a Sensory room within our gym.

Our Sensory room has been created by using interactive lighting equipment such as torches, light switches and colour changing flameless candles. The resources support our tamariki to develop and understand the cause and effect theory. The teaching team have noticed more positive social skills developing between peers. Furthermore our sensory room encourages relaxation. We have had a fantastic time witnessing so many learning opportunities within the environment. What we have all loved the most about our sensory room is that we have created a room full of fun.
