Diwali at BestStart Kelvin Grove

During the celebration, temples, homes, shops and office buildings are brightly illuminated inside and outside with diyas (oil lamps or candles) and lights, light fireworks, and partake in family feasts, where mithai (sweets) and gifts are shared. Rangoli are made inside and outside homes as it is thought to bring good luck and during this happy celebration females apply henna on their hands and feet.

We celebrated Diwali on the 9th of November at BestStart Kelvin Grove. We had a bright colour dress up day where children and teachers dressed up, we made some coconut barfi’s, we light up some diyas at the reception and made Rangoli at entrance. In our rooms we did lots of dancing to Hindi music’s and made henna tattoos on our children’s hands. We are very thankful of Janveer’s mum, Navneet who came and did some henna tattoos on teachers’ hands. She also made some bhajya’s and brought Gulab jamun for us.
