Every second Monday we take our 6 oldest tamariki at BestStart Bains Kindy to join the AJ Seeley Gully Restoration Volunteer Group. We help do our part in looking after Papatūānuku and Tāne Mahuta's forest. We have learned all about the iron deposits in the stream that local Māori used to use to dye their harakeke (flax). We have also learned about the possum traps that are down there. Some days we help clear patches of Wandering Jewish weed which is long and tangly but very easy to pull out- we fill whole bags in no time at all. We hope to be able to help with some planting soon.
