Drawing our faces
We've been focusing on looking closely at our faces and sketching/drawing ourselves. We used the mirror to look at our facial features and add details to our first attempts. We discussed the different names of the features of our faces, what each part was attached to and what they are used for eg eyes see, nose smell. Some of the children added the rest of their body parts eg arms and legs etc, and family members to their drawings. They became big stories that as they drew, they told the story and then I wrote the story down. We worked on making sure that the tamariki were holding their pencil correctly and some children then moved onto attempting to write their own names from their name cards on the wall.
