Getting creative in the Piwakawaka room
Here in the Piwakawaka room at BestStart Te Whāriki, we encourage learning through creativity. In the lead up to Christmas we have been offering opportunities for the children to express themselves through their art work. Self-expression helps toddlers to communicate their feelings in a positive way as they create their own art work. While toddlers are painting, they are also learning colour recognition, it can help boost their self-esteem, help them work on their motor skills, build their concentration and patience and also help with their sensory development! Here is some beautiful art work that the children in the Piwakawaka Room have created using paint and Christmas shapes.
