In the Nursery as part of our holiday programme we celebrated balloon day. As part of this we created our own balloon shaped artwork using balloons filled with water/wai. We covered the balloon in different coloured paint and the children/tamariki moved the balloons around in their trays to cover their piece of paper/pepa.

The children/tamariki explored and discovered different ways they could spread the paint with the balloon. They tried bouncing, stamping and rolling the balloons in the tray and some of the children/tamariki even tried shaking the trays to move the balloons around, spreading their paint across their paper/pepa.

It was lovely seeing the tamariki exploring this activity and letting their curiosity lead their learning as they discover different ways to be creative and expressive. These balloon artworks are now display in our classroom and they really brighten up the space.

Ahakoa he iti he pounamu - Even though it may be small it is a treasure.
