Throughout August the tamariki (children) have loved keeping fit and healthy by learning about and joining in a variety of physical activities both inside and outside. The tamariki have been focusing on keeping well, both physically but also in a way to ensure their social and emotional well being is supported.

In the morning we have been taking meditation and yoga sessions, to get tamariki in a calm frame of mind to start off the day. This includes the tamariki sitting in a circle with their legs crossed and eyes closed. Listening to the soft music and to what the words are saying. The tamariki have really taken an interest in this and they love participating!

Outside we love to burn energy and do it in a variety of ways. We love to crest obstacle courses for the tamariki to complete. These support the tamariki gross motor skills which means they are using their bigger muscles and bones to help challenge their body. The tamariki also learn sharing and patience as only a handful of children can complete the course at the same time before it gets to busy! We have also included some team games for fun, such as hide and seek, duck duck goose and egg and spoon race
