Getting up close and personal with animals

Looking at our tamariki’s growing interest in animals, we invited a mobile petting zoo at BestStart Maui Street.

Tamariki had the opportunity to get closer to animals such as lamb, goat, bunnies, guinea pigs, chickens, and the pony. Children were encouraged to treat the animals kindly and patiently and to practice turn-taking for patting and cuddles.

Since we are also working on strengthening our community links, we invited friends and families to come to join us and explore our beautiful centre. We had lots of visitors who joined us in this event including BestStart Bader Street who brought some of their babies in for the petting zoo and later joined our Nursery tamariki for “kai”. This was a great way to bring the community to us.

We had fun filled morning with great learning experiences with visitors, lots of animals and pony rides.
