The children at Community Kindy Melling have been busy working on making their wearable art costumes for our WAM (Wearable Arts and Music) Show in July. We have been having discussions about what we could use to make Piupiu (Traditional Maori Skirt). We came up with using plastic bags and adding black stripes to them and sewing an elastic waistband to the top. During the process the children have been learning about how plastic bags are harming the environment as well as how to sew with a sewing machine (and what one is). They have been so proud of the work that they are completing and get super excited when we have sessions each week. #WAM18
