Good Sorts at BestStart Stokes Valley
At BestStart Stokes Valley we want our children to grow up to be "Good Sorts." We want them to be proud of Stokes Valley, the place where they have grown up and to be inspired to care for the community and people in it.
We have established the 'BestStart Good Sorts' competition. Each month we ask the people of Stokes Valley to nominate someone or a community group/business/organisation who is living our vision, "Together we enrich the lives of others." The children discuss the nominations and select a winner who receives a small gift from the children and centre.
This month's winner was Pam Cromarty who supports the Horoeka Scenic Reserve to promote environmental restoration. Pam also visits schools to work with children and support them to understand about environmental restoration.
We invited Pam to visit us at BestStart Stokes Valley so that we could give her the award. Pam spent some time talking to the children about the amazing work that she does. We are now planning a trip to the reserve so that the children can be "Good Sorts" as well and help to look after the reserve.
