Today was our first excursion since Covid 19 Lockdown and with all the renovations happening in our mara/garden, we thought it would be a great opportunity to visit our local park (Maclean Park) to become reacquainted with our community. Our tamariki were so good and absolutely loved the trip. They listened very carefully to the safety korero before we went and learnt a new song "Stop, look and listen before you cross the street" song to keep us safe when we crossed the road. They managed to walk all the way there and all the way back after a blast at the park, ka pai to mahi koutou! There was so much to play on and there were lots of people there with the school holidays. Our tamariki particularly enjoyed the big slide and revisited this several times. They also really loved the 'hamster wheel' and lots of them hopped inside at once to have a run inside. More favourites were the see-saws, the big tractor and the boat in the sandpit. When we asked our tamariki at the end of the day what their favourite part of the day was we had lots of responses like, "the slide," "the boat", "the tractor" and the "round thing" (rotating wheel you could walk inside). I think it's fair to say our tamariki were happy and well exercised for a good moe/sleep at home tonight! It was sooo much fun and so lovely to see our tamariki enjoying our local community.
