Once a fortnight two of the teachers from Babies take four children from BestStart Palmerston North on a trip across the road to visit Metlife retirement village. On this occasion Christine and I took Kaya, Myla, Marni and Aidan across. This was the first visit for both the twins and Kaya.

The children were calm and happy as we went across the road in the buggies and sat down on the mat in the retirement village lounge. Christine got out the puppets and begun singing, the three girls watched with interest all that was going on and looked around the unfamiliar environment. They showed a great interest in watching and having a go with the puppets as well as joining in some of the actions to the songs.

Near the end of the visit we took the children up closer to the residents to say hello before popping them back into the buggies and singing our farewell song "Ka kete ano".

The residents and children alike really enjoyed the visit and it is so cool to be able provide this opportunity for inter-generational sharing between our babies and the elderly residents.
