We made this a focus of group planning inquiry within our room. Our wall display around this has been very popular with our tamariki, supporting their individual learning goals, particularly with their communication, creating conversation between peers, whanau and kaiako.  To extend on the children’s interests, we have been on some excursions, visiting the Taupo Airport and the local park where we looked at the sky through mirrors, investigating clouds.  The children have recently enjoyed being able to observe Monarch caterpillars through one of our windows seeing them turn into chrysalis’ and then butterflies!  This planning inquiry has allowed us to come together as a group to explore the question ‘What can we see in our sky?’ and develop relationships, extend on individual learning goals, further growing children’s vocabulary and communication skills, make discoveries about the living world, generating real working theories about the world around us and getting out into our local community.
