Over the last two months, we have been recording how much rain we have had the previous day. We noticed that there were a lot of zeros on our clipboard and discussed what we thought this meant. We know zero means nothing, so there were a lot of days when we had no rain!

Many mornings we remembered that we would go outside and see that there was no water. Sometimes there were a few drops and occasionally we had a lot of rain, but most of the time it was dry! We talked about how there’s not been enough water for everyone in Auckland and ways that we could save the water that we do have.

Some of the suggestions were:

- turning off the taps

- sending water to the water centre for cleaning

- asking the clouds to give us water

Great thinking guys, I can see that we are all exploring ideas to save water. It was great to see that our tamariki have been learning about water conservation and being kaitiaki/protectors for our environment!
