At BestStart Stokes Valley, a large part of our local curriculum is kotahitanga, meaning togetherness, working together.  This is woven through our programme planning in activities and resources that support tamariki to work together, communicate and share ideas. It is a great way to develop the ability to play well with others and develop skills to compromise and listen to other people's

ideas. We see language extension as tamariki express and explain their ideas to their friends.  Activities like this help develop social and emotional skills as they learn utonutanga (perservance) and how to self-regulate when things don't go their way.
