Learning about numbers and letters
Tamariki have been very interested in learning about numbers and letters. To extend on this interest kaiako provided some small pieces of wood so that the children could match them with the numbers. The children then took over the direction of the group time. They asked if they could write their own numbers. They then moved onto writing words and asking the teacher to write so that they copy.
This was very productive and motivated group of learners. It was wonderful to see the children developing their numeracy and literacy skills.
