Learning how to care for our world and its wildlife
The toddlers have been learning about how to care for our world. They have regular visits from little birds who perch in the tree in their playground looking for a dropped crumb from the children's morning and afternoon tea. To provide the right food for the birds we got a water feeder and a seed dispenser. The children enjoy filling these up regularly and delight in watching the birds feed.
This supports children's active exploration of their natural environment and promotes curiosity. The toddlers are developing a sense of responsibility, checking that the food and water is topped up. These are one of the many ways that our tamariki are gaining knowledge about the world and how to care for it.
