The children and teachers at BestStart Hastings Central Kindy ventured out on a lovely sunny day into the local community for a walk to Bunnings. We were on a mission to buy some hooks, nails and other bits and pieces for Kindy. Along the way, while smelling the flowers, the children also got to further develop their literacy and numeracy skills, by finding numbers and letters on signs, letterboxes and car number plates.

Once we arrived at Bunnings the children explored the many aisles of items for sale. As they walked around the shop investigating the shelves they were excited to see our handyman John, who was also buying items for the other centres. Once we had everything we needed we patiently waited in line at the checkout for our turn to purchase our items. The lovely lady at the checkout let us all have a turn scanning our items before heading back to Kindy for afternoon tea.

Our children love getting out and about in the community, developing an understanding and appreciation of the world around us.
