BestStart Whangaparaoa has been on on journey recently to add lose parts and complexity into all areas of our curriculum. Each room across the centre has set up a different loose parts station and they can be found both inside and outside allowing our tamariki imagination to flourish

Loose parts are objects and materials that children can move, manipulate, control, and change while they play. Children can use loose parts in so many different ways they can carry, combine, redesign, line up, take apart, and put loose parts back together in almost endless ways. The materials come with no specific set of directions, and they can be used alone or combined with other materials.

Loose parts possess infinite play possibilities

Kaiako and tamariki have been busy collecting a wide variety of different resources to create beautiful spaces for our tamariki to learn through there play with these fantastic resources. We have also encouraged our whanau to support by asking them to collect items and bring them in for our loose part stations as well which has been invaluable to ensure our stations are well stocked and children love showing their friends their collections and how they can create with them.

Watching the children create such fantastic masterpieces with these resources always makes our hearts sing and we look forward everyday to see where these resources take them today.
