In the new issue of the BestStart magazine we spotted a very delicious looking recipe for biscuits. Today at mat time we gave this recipe ago. We all gathered around the table after washing our hands and looked through the ingredients we were going to use, we also spoke about what equipment we would use as well. The children all had a turn at using the different equipment such as measuring spoons, measuring cups and mixing spoons. As we poured in the ingredients we spoke about what we were putting into the bowl and the measurement of it. After all the ingredients were in the bowl we all had a turn at mixing the dough together. During this process we could see the dough changing before our eyes as the different ingredients reacted together to form a solid and sticky cookie dough. Next step was to pop it in the oven and wait for them to cook. The children all got to enjoy taste testing these cookies once they had cooled down.

Throughout this experience the children all explored mathematics and science through measurement and watching liquids and solids react together to create the dough as well as language as we talked about the ingredients, the measurements and the process. We explored creating and sharing food as a team and connected with home as we created these delicious biscuits.
