In the Prep School, we have recently been focusing on how we can effectively support tamariki to gain knowledge of sustainable practices and one aspect we have been looking into is recycling, reusing and repurposing. With this in mind, we set ourselves a challenge to build an igloo out of milk bottles! This was a great team effort where whānau from the whole centre brought in milk bottles and we even got our community involved as our neighbours from Fulton Hogan brought over their milk bottles too! This was such a wonderful learning opportunity for tamariki as we had many conversations about the importance of recycling and how we can gather used materials to make something new rather than throwing them away. We always love getting our whānau and community involved and the team at Fulton Hogan loved to be part of the project as they would check in and see the progress along the way. And most importantly our tamariki had so much fun during the whole process and of course getting to use the igloo once it was complete!
