It was lovely to hear children's conversation at the playdough table about pizza. This play was helping them to build relationship and develop their social and communication skills. Our children were being so creative and made pretend pizza for each other. This turned out to be a mini project where we brainstormed together to find out what ingredients was needed to make pizza. We then talked about where we could buy the ingredients from, Countdown and Pak n Save seems to be everyone's favourite shop. To further extend this learning, we set challenge to our tamariki to tell us the instructions and recipe for pizza making.

Making sure that all the groundwork was done today was the day to make the actual pizza. After some prep of cutting and slicing ingredients we were ready to decorate our pizza. The pizza was put in the oven and there were so many timekeepers. It was then time to enjoy their own cooking.

This activity really helped our tamariki to be in charge of and drive their own learning. Through this activity our tamariki developed their social skills and practiced some basic maths concepts and building their language. Creating their own lunch helped to build their self-confidence and lay the foundation of healthy eating habits.
