Malo e Lelei everyone, it’s Tongan language week! the theme this year is ‘Fakakoloa ‘o Aotearoa ‘aki ‘a e Ako Lelei’ which means ‘Enriching Aotearoa with holistic education.

During lockdown our BestStart Onehunga kaiako have continued to promote learning by staying in contact with our tamariki and whānau through beststart@home on Storypark.

Kaiako created and posted activities each day to engage tamariki and provided experiences around events such as Father’s Day and Tongan language week.

We have seen our tamariki engaging in science, natural collage, baking and creating tempting treats at home. Our Kaiako also read some favourite centre books and sang lots of songs. Ka pai we are all doing so well and looking forward to being back at the Centre together.

Let’s count to five in Tongan.

1 – Taha, 2 – Ua, 3 – Tolu,4 – Fā, 5 - Nima

Please - Fakamolemole (Fah-car-more-leh-more-leh) Or - Kataki (Gar-duck-e)

Thank you - malo (Mar-lor)
