Matariki Celebrations at BestStart Riverbend Rd
Matariki is an important event in our centre calendar at BestStart Riverbend Rd and every year we involve the children in a range of learning experiences to grow and enhance their knowledge.
This year we ended our month long Matariki celebrations with a whanau evening where families were able to join us for kai, sharing recipes and stories of their culture. This was also an opportunity for whanau to join the fun listening to music and dancing alongside their children. As the evening progressed teachers encouraged whanau to take part in an art auction where whanau were able to bid on and purchase pieces of the children’s Matariki art for home. This was a great success with many of our children’s artistic creations being sold.
Overall, this was a terrific opportunity for the centre and whanau to come together, celebrating and enjoying one another’s company.
