Montessori Herne Bay – When transferring water from one container to another, we begin with the largest motor skill to isolate. This skill builds independence as a child can now know how to pour water for themselves, builds coordination as they do it without spilling, as well as developing the mathematical mind as to know how much water to pour into each. Here, is a child who has been participating in this work for quiet some time this morning. She is showing many signs of independence as she wipes the spilt water and enjoying the sensory aspect of the water and seeing the depth of it at the same time.
