Baking encourages the children to share and be patient, it teaches independence and how to be part of a process. And of course there's the bonus of being able to eat it at the end! Some of the children are now able to crack eggs on their own and even the under 1's give mixing the mixture a good go!  I am passionate about creating a room, which is a home away from home - Wa Kainga. Where the children and families feel like this is just like another home and they have a strong sense of belonging.  We also cater for the different children's dietary needs and these are gluten free pikelets which all the children LOVED, some we didn't even have to time to put some jam on.
