At BestStart Parnell, we value cultural diversity in our learning community. Through celebrating a variety of cultural festivals, we aim to deliver an all-inclusive curriculum that upholds the mana of our tamariki and their family, including their identity, language, and culture.

Recently, we celebrated the Lunar New Year, St Patrick’s Day, and Holi. We planned and delivered a wide range of learning experiences for our tamariki - singing and telling stories together, creating arts and crafts, doing special activities for specific festivals, and even inviting families to share the celebration with us.

Key dispositions we have in mind for our tamariki to develop in these cultural celebrations include being respectful, empathetic, and positive towards differences.  We take action to make connections between BestStart Parnell and home and include families and whānau in our centre’s curriculum and assessment to foster their growing sense of belonging.
