Today our pepe in the Kakano room explored the chemical reaction between baking soda and vinegar.  Two of our older tamariki, Myka and Richa, were invited to join in with this experiment taking on a leadership role and supporting their younger peers. Such exploration lay the foundation for future understanding of more complex science concepts later. This activity was a great introduction to a practical science investigation. During this investigation I was able to observe the tamariki developing confidence in working with others to explore the environment and make sense of the physical world (MoE, 2017).
