Our love for Construction
BestStart Marne Road Kindy children's love of construction has been challenged as they explored reflection and construction together. The children were able to see through a new dimension as they used cups to build with on the mirror. The children were able to explore with different concepts with the cups and testing out their thoughts and ideas as they tried different ways to balance the cups, to balance through the cups and to add structure to their builds. We loved seeing the children's minds constantly ticking as they tried out different techniques.
Construction is a valuable learning resource providing many opportunities for children to create and express their ideas. Within this play, and with adult support, children explore ideas about math, science, technology, language, art and develop their thinking skills
The children really enjoyed this experience and re-visited it throughout the week experimenting with different ways to construct with the cups and mirror each time they built.
“Balancing the cups up one way and then one on the top is harder I have to make sure the cups match all the way around otherwise they topple over and then the whole thing will fall and the mirror is showing me where I can place the next cup around the back if it too,” said Noah
“When I build on here, I need to balance them carefully one cup not straight and it will fall over, and they will all topple down together. I can see what I am doing in the mirror which makes it look like a bigger construction. shared Alani
