Our pepi looking after our environment
This past month here in the nursery room at BestStart Puketaha we have been encouraging our pepi to grow their sense of belonging here at our learning centre. One such way we have been growing their sense of belonging is encouraging their care and respect for the environment, such as cleaning, fixing, gardening and helping others with self-care skills.
Encouraging our pepi to care for our environment develops their responsibility for our living whenua while building on their social skills such as turn-taking and team building and provides a great sensory experience. Here our pepi can be seen taking the initiative to care for our putiputi and heihei together on a daily basis, demonstrating their strong relationship with our natural environment and the initiative they have developed to nurture our whenua and kararehe.
