Our School Ready Visits
At ABC Manurewa Central we have developed a Be School Ready initiative so that our children are excited and prepared for continuous learning. Every fortnight a group of preschool children take a walk to Manurewa West Primary School to take part in their morning fitness class which links to our Hauora (wellbeing) initivities. After the fitness class the children enjoy a packet of milk kindly given to them by the school.
Our tamariki then make their way to the new entrant classroom where a kaiako (teacher) reads a book to them. They are then given opportunities to join the table activities.
During the transition visit children experience activities that introduce to early concepts of maths, science, art, reading and other curriculum areas. Our value is to nurture children to become confident by supporting them to think clearly and solve problems.
